Employment law is a fast-changing, ever-evolving field of legal practice. At Ziegler Metzger, we have been dedicated to providing Counsel of Good Value to clients throughout Ohio since 1952. We strive for efficiency and effectiveness in all services we provide.

Located in Cleveland (with an office in Painesville), Ohio, we primarily represent employers in employment law, although we will represent employees in certain situations (see below). Our firm has been selected for inclusion in the Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers.

Providing a Full Range of Employment Law Services

We represent large and small businesses in matters pertaining to employment law. We handle a full range of employment law issues, including:

  • Drafting and reviewing employment handbooks
  • Employment policies and procedures
  • Hiring and disciplinary matters
  • Preventing and handling litigation
  • Enforcing, or defending against enforcement of restrictive covenants
  • Protecting trade secrets and proprietary information
  • Arbitration proceedings before self-regulatory organizations, including FINRA and other recognized arbitration sponsors

While many of our clients have been with us for many years, we also serve as local counsel to several national law firms for their clients involved in litigation in Ohio. These cases often involve seeking equitable relief in the form of temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions, or defending against equitable relief in court or arbitration proceedings.

Representing Employees

We have represented employees in contesting employment termination decisions, whether the decision was made for cause or for reasons relating to workforce reductions or business reorganizations. We review and negotiate employment severance packages and related agreements. We also represent employees (and their current employers) when a former employer attempts to enforce a non-solicitation covenant or non-compete agreement.
